The Cake That Started It All

Ok, so this wasn't the first cake that made me realize I really enjoyed making cakes, but it definitely sealed it!  This cake was made for a cake auction.  Karsten and I decided to make a cake based off of the Las Vegas LDS Temple.  This was our first time EVER sculpting a cake.  But we had fun nonetheless.

Getting the base shape of what we want.

Frosting and making spires

The spires are rice krispie's wrapped around a rod

Finally Finished

We added some grass around the base and a fountain

Palm trees and such to give it more color.
So, this started the idea for cake decorating!  We learned many things.  When making a cake for an auction, don't make it so large.  No one person, or family for that matter, wants that much cake (there were about 4 boxes of cake in that thing).  Also, make sure you have a freezer large enough to store it while making it.
